On 26 October, Defence Minister Thomas de Maizière presented the 2011 Stationing Concept developed to support the reorientation of the Bundeswehr. In future, there will be Bundeswehr elements at a total of 264 stations in Germany.

The Bundeswehr is facing one of the most far-reaching reforms in its history. A commission has been set up to develop proposals for its future structure. The aim of the structural reform is to ensure that the Bundeswehr continues to be an efficient instrument of German security and defence policy.
