On 5 November 2020, Federal Minister of Defence Annegret Kramp-Karrenbauer will have the opportunity to talk to her Australian counterpart Linda Reynolds. Owing to the pandemic, their meeting will be virtual and take the form of a webinar. The ministers will discuss more than just issues that are of interest to both our countries in the context of their bilateral cooperation – they will also have the opportunity to shed some light on current developments and challenges existing in the Indo-Pacific region from a security and defence point of view, and to talk about the German government’s policy guidelines on the Indo-Pacific.
In the run-up to the webinar, Defence Minister Kramp-Karrenbauer underlined:
“Given the rising security challenges in the Indo-Pacific region, it is my goal to intensify our bilateral and multilateral collaboration. That could include, for example, the embarkation of German officers on Australian Navy units”.
Organised by the Australian Strategic Policy Institute (ASPI) in cooperation with the Konrad Adenauer Foundation (KASKonrad Adenauer Stiftung), the event will begin on 5 November 2020 at 7:45 a.m. CET and can be followed online. You can register for this event here.
