Dr. Karl-Theodor Freiherr zu Guttenberg
Dr. Karl-Theodor Freiherr zu Guttenberg was born in Munich on 5 December 1971, he is married with two children.

After taking his Abitur in Rosenheim, qualifying him for university entrance, he completed his military service with the Light Mountain Infantry in Mittenwald. Karl-Theodor Freiherr zu Guttenberg is a non-commissioned officer of the reserve.
He then studied law and politics in Bayreuth and Munich and was awarded a doctorate in law (Dr. jur.) in 2007.
Since 2002 he has been a member of Kulmbach District Council and a Member of the German Bundestag. From mid 2005 to March 2009 Karl-Theodor Freiherr zu Guttenberg was chairman of the German-British Parliamentary Friendship Group. He has been Vice-President of the Southeast Europe Society since 2005.
From 2005 to November 2008 Karl-Theodor Freiherr zu Guttenberg was chairman of the CDU/CSU parliamentary group in the German Bundestag in the Foreign Affairs Committee and spokesman of the CDU/CSU parliamentary group in the German Bundestag on disarmament, non-proliferation and arms control. From 2005 to 2008 he was chair of the CSU Foreign Policy Expert Committee. Since December 2007 he has been chairman of the CSU Upper Franconian District Executive.
From November 2008 to February 2009 Karl-Theodor Freiherr zu Guttenberg was a substitute member of the Foreign Affairs Committee and a substitute member of the Defence Committee and Secretary-General of the CSU.
From February to 27 October 2009 Karl-Theodor Freiherr zu Guttenberg was Federal Minister of Economics and Technology.
Dr. Karl-Theodor Freiherr zu Guttenberg has been Minister of Defence of the Federal Republic of Germany since 28 October 2009.
