The tasks of the Bundeswehr, based on a robust mandate, are to conduct the maritime operation, reconnoitre and monitor the sea lanes and divert any suspicious vessels. The German forces are also helping to provide air transport capacities, humanitarian aid, technical equipment and training assistance for the Lebanese security forces as well as military advice for Lebanon. The Maritime Task Force includes frigates with shipboard helicopters, logistic support ships and tenders as well as fast patrol boats or alternatively minehunters.
